Suggested Itinerary#
Your itinerary is exclusively yours to tailor to suit your group's interests and profile of your members. Here is our suggested itinerary:
Day 1 – Acqui Terme
Scheduled flight to Italy from your preferred airport – transfer with our tour manager in our private executive coach to the 3* Hotel Valentino just outside the beautiful spa town of Acqui Terme.
Day 2 – Guided tour of Genoa
Guided walking tour of Genoa, European Capital of Culture in 2004 and the birthplace of explorer Christopher Columbus, takes in sights such as Piazzo San Matteo, the Church of Gesù and Palazzo Ducale, the residence of the Dukes of Genoa – free time at leisure to explore the port and narrow streets, shop or take a leisurely lunch before returning to our hotel.
Day 3 – Portofino & Rapallo
Travel along the Ligurian coast to beautiful Portofino where once only fishing boats docked in the narrow inlet, but now a berth for fabulous luxury yachts – time to explore Rapallo, a haven for writers such as DH Lawrence and Ezra Pound, with its 16th century castle and a chance to enjoy the funicular ride up the hill to Montallegro for wonderful views of the Tigullio Gulf.
Day 4 – Turin & Reggia di Venaria
Optional guided walking tour of Turin, the capital of Piedmont but whose centuries old ties with France give it a strong Gallic flavour, takes in the 17th century Palazzo Reale, the Duomo, the ancient Roman centre and Piazza San Carlo, a jewel of Baroque architecture – guided tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Reggia di Venaria, one of the largest royal residences in the world, designed and built for the Royal House of Savoy from 1675 by Amedeo di Castellamonte and boasting a wonderful art collection with beautiful frescoes.
Day 5 – Certosa di Pavia
Certosa di Pavia (Charterhouse of Pavia) to the south of Milan, one of Europe’s most extravagant monasteries, was originally commissioned by the Duke of Milan, Galeazzo II Visconti, in 1396 as the family mausoleum and took one hundred years to build, and our guided tour gives a fascinating insight into the lives of the Carthusian monks.
Day 6 – Acqui Terme
Morning free at leisure before we transfer to the airport for our scheduled flight home.
